The article explains the need for a holistic study of the language in the process of communication and in the dynamics of its functioning. To this end, the author introduces a hypothesis that the "roots" of a verbal language lie in a non-verbal language space which coincides with the mentality of human consciousness. This is an experimental aspect of the language, and its development needs new (or understood from a new angle) categories, providing an integral (universalist) approach to language/speech and intelligence/thinking in real spontaneous communication. It is assumed that topica, understood as a system of structural-semantic models of generating communicative meaning, is a language topology and can be used as a tool for topological analysis of the language in communication. Examples of the functioning of topica in situations of real spontaneous communication are considered, and the explanatory nature of topological analysis is proved.
