The work is topical because of the demand in studying the processes and variations occurring in the languages functioning beyond the borders of their native habitats in a constant contact with indigenous languages and in a new social and cultural environment. The aim of the article is to consider and analyze manifestations, as well as linguistic and extralinguistic factors contributing to the emergence of hybrid codes. For this purpose, the following tasks are set: to analyze the existing terms denominating the hybrid linguistic code used as an illustration; to consider the basic structures of which it consists; to identify and analyze the basis of its dictionary, the main sources of its replenishment, and semantic processes that accompany the process of borrowing from other languages. As a result, it was found that &amp;ldquo;Camfranglais&amp;rdquo; is not a separate language with its own structure. The matrix structures of this code are French, while the lexical units could be borrowed from the indigenous Cameroonian languages, Cameroonian Pidgin English, English, French, and other European languages. From the functional point of view, &amp;ldquo;Сamfranglais&amp;rdquo; has clear social functions. It protests against authority and expectations of society, limiting people&amp;rsquo;s freedom of choice and action.&amp;nbsp;</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article considers the problem of linguistic interaction in Cameroon resulting in the emergence of various hybrid codes.
