The pertinence of the study stems from the fact that television series are capable of transmitting patterns of behavior, thoughts, emotions through the TV characters, as well as commenting on current problems and situations. The authors consider the features of the series, their dual character and polycode structure. The article presents a linguistic and cognitive analysis of the examples obtained from the detective TV series &amp;quot;Castle&amp;quot;, &amp;quot;Elementary&amp;quot;, &amp;quot;Limitless &amp;quot; and &amp;quot;Brooklyn 9-9&amp;quot;. The examples obtained from these series are divided into three groups, each of which reflects different aspects of Russia&amp;#39;s perception: the image of the justice system, the image of the President and the image of a Russian. The most numerous was the group of examples representing the image of the system of justice. The image of the President and a Russian person is represented by a small number of examples. The selected language fragments appeared in detective series from 2014 to 2015, when the tension in relations between Russia and the United States of America was observed. The authors draw a conclusion that television series are indeed a modern, although not sufficiently studied, platform for the formation of the state image. The study of the language of the series, their ability to display existing stereotypes and new ones is a promising direction of the linguistics development.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article deals with the speech representation of stereotypes about Russia in American detective series.
