Discourse analysis and cognitive modeling methods were used in this research. Different approaches for the definition of the term &amp;ldquo;management&amp;rdquo; are dealt with and this enables to define management discourse as a goal-oriented speech activity of a manager having powers of authority to convince or make someone do definite actions that help organize the process of management and lead to achieving the goal. In the process of analyzing one of the speeches of the British Prime Minister the author reveals some language strategies including intensification, example-setting and repetition.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The paper deals with management discourse and reveals some linguistic means of a fragment of a mental model underlying it &amp;ndash; the goal.
