SPECIFIC FEATURES OF THE ORTHOGRAPHY SYSTEM IN THE CAMEROAN VARIANT OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

The article deals with the description and analysis of the orthography system in the Cameroon variant of the English language. Cameroon is an African multilingual country which has recently gained independence. The language situation there has always been rather complex. When the country became a British colony, the language situation could be characterized as even more complicated. Britain dominated in the country’s political, economic and social life. The British variant of the English language was used in all life spheres. In some time this variant of English started to change. Gradually the Cameroon variant of the English language developed. Its system has a range of new characteristic features at all language system levels. The article covers some aspects of the Cameroon variant of the English language orthography and contains many points for discussion. That is why the aim of the article is to describe some of the orthographic features. Scientific analysis will be held on the comparison with the standard British English orthography system.
