Aims & Scope

Research Result. Theoretical and Applied Linguistics is a high-quality open access peer-reviewed international journal published quarterly by the Belgorod National Research University, Russia. Research Result. Theoretical and Applied Linguistics provides a platform for academia and practitioners, and simply those with a general interest in language, linguistics and literature to impart and share knowledge in the form of high quality theoretical and empirical research papers, pilot studies, opinion papers and reviews. Research Result. Theoretical and Applied Linguistics also offers the opportunity to publish special issues or sections, of which we are duly notify, to reflect current interest and research in topical or developing areas. The journal fully supports authors wanting to present their research in an innovative fashion through the use of modern multimedia.

The journal provides an international source of peer-reviewed information on scholarly communication with language- and literature-related issues in closeup covering niches such as general, comparative and applied linguistics, world literature. Precise areas of study include, but are not limited to: historical linguistics, phonetics, phonology, pragmatics, semantics, syntax, sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, critical discourse analysis, conversation analysis, linguistic anthropology, ethnography of communication, language socialization, narrative studies, gesture/sign/visual forms of communication, semiotics, social semiotics, language policy, language ideology, functional grammar, translation studies, cross-cultural communication studies, text/corpus linguistics and literature studies.

The materials of the Journal are available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.

Free reproduction of materials from the Journal for personal purposes and free use for informational, scientific, educational and cultural purposes is allowed according to Articles 1273 and 1274 of Chapter 70 Part IV of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation. Users may read, download, copy, distribute, print, study, search, or link to the full-text papers in the Journal without seeking permission from the Publisher or author. This policy is consistent with the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). When quoting, a reference to the Journal is required. 

DATA STORAGE POLICY is aimed at selecting, storing and providing access to the Journal's archives. All papers published in the Journal and their metadata are stored in the Russian State Library, the Russian Book Chamber, on the Publisher's server and are available for public access on the Journal's website.

PRINCIPLES OF EDITORIAL POLICY

Research Result. Theoretical and Applied Linguistics is published since 2014 by the Belgorod National Research University. Research Result. Theoretical and Applied Linguistics editorial board is responsible for maintaining its scientific reputation. The editorial staff members are guided in their work by the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (see the link), and take into account the valuable experience of reputable international journals and publishers.

Originality and Plagiarism

Submission of the same manus­cript to more than one journal constitutes unethical behavior and is unacceptable. Authors should not submit for publication a previously published article.

The works of other researchers should be clearly identified. Authors should provide references to publications that have influenced the content of the submitted paper.

Publication and Authorship

By the fact of submitting materials for publication in Research Result. Theoretical and Applied Linguistics the authors confirm their authorship and agree that in case of the admission of these materials to the publication they can be placed in electronic databases with the obligatory indication of authorship.

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors.

Licensed relationship

All of the authors are offered to conclude a Licensed Agreement with Research Result. Theoretical and Applied Linguistics (the Journal) according to which the Author grants the Journal the right to use the Work on terms indicated in the agreement.

Peer Review

All manuscripts submitted to Research Result. Theoretical and Applied Linguistics go through a blind peer-review process that determines if a manuscript is fit or unfit for publication. Research Result. Theoretical and Applied Linguistics operates a double-blind review process.

Author(s) identity is removed from the manuscript and shielded from the reviewers during the review process. The reviewer is left with only the manuscript without any information that might enable him/her uncover the identity of the author(s).

The review reports are sent to the authors without any indication to the identity of the reviewer(s).

Author and Reviewer Fees

Authors are not charged for submission, processing and publication of papers.
Peer reviewers are not paid for the peer reviewing.

 

Generative AI Policy

For authors

AI-assisted technologies (such as large language models (LLMs), chatbots, and image creators) сannot meet the Research Result. Theoretical and Applied Linguistics journal’s criteria for authorship and therefore may not be listed as authors or coauthors, nor may sources cited in Research Result. Theoretical and Applied Linguistics journal content be authored or coauthored by AI tools. Authorship implies responsibilities and tasks that can only be attributed to and performed by humans.

Authors who use AI-assisted technologies as components of their research study or as aids in the writing or presentation of the manuscript should note this in the Acknowledgments section of the manuscript. It would be also beneficial to outline this in the cover letter with a brief description of how the AI was used on what portions of the manuscript and content.

Detailed information should be provided in the Methods / Methods and Materials section: The full prompt used in the production of the work, as well as the AI tool, software platform, or programme, its version and extension numbers, should be disclosed.

Authors are fully accountable for the accuracy of the work and for ensuring that there is no plagiarism. They must also ensure that all sources are appropriately cited and should carefully review the work to guard against incorrectness, incompleteness, and bias that may be introduced by AI.

AI-generated images and other multimedia are not permitted in Research Result. Theoretical and Applied Linguistics. Exceptions may be granted in certain situations (e.g. for images and/or videos in manuscripts specifically about AI and/or machine learning). Such exceptions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and should be disclosed at the time of submission.

Editors may decline to move forward with manuscripts if AI is used inappropriately.

For reviewers

Reviewers may not use AI technology in generating or writing their reviews because this could breach the confidentiality of the manuscript.

For editors

Editorial team members are not permitted to use genAI tools as it violates the confidentiality of author proprietary rights and may breach data privacy rights.

 

We recognize that this area is rapidly developing, and our position on AI-generated content including multimedia may change with the evolution of copyright law and industry standards on ethical use.
