THE PECULARITIES OF DYSPHEMISMS FUNCTIONING BASED ON THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH EUPHEMISMS IN ENGLISH LITERATURE
Such category of speech as dysphemism is one of the least studied by modern linguistic science. Despite the growing number of scientific papers devoted to this topic, the problem of dysphemia requires new approaches and methods in its study. Moreover, the use of dysfemisms increases in various areas of the language, including the English-language literature. Therefore, we can say that in this area, linguistic scientific research does not keep pace with the development of the functioning of such a concept as dysphemism. The above arguments explain the problems and relevance of this work.
Unlike dysfemisms, euphemisms are studied to a much greater extent. Therefore, in this paper we use methods of comparison and collation of the two above concepts in order to reveal the features of the functioning of one of them. This kind of juxtaposition of linguistic concepts quite clearly shows certain aspects of the functioning of dysfemisms in the English-language literature and provides an incentive for further scientific research devoted to this problem. In addition, based on the demonstrated examples, it can be said that the scope and peculiarities of the functioning of dysfemisms provide a wide field for reflection and scientific analysis.
