DISCURSIVE MARKERS AS A MEANS OF FORMING PRAGMATIC LINGUISTIC COMPETENCE
The proposed article deals with issues related to the formation of pragmatic linguistic competence based on discursive markers. Discursive markers or discursive words have a wide pragmatic potential, function in various discourses, represent an important aspect both in the theory of communication, linguistic pragmatics, and in discourse studies. Discursive markers were fragmentarily studied in the linguo-didactic aspect. Modern foreign education suggests that language serves as a means of communication between people. For a person to be able to use a foreign language for information exchange, it is necessary to create facilities for the formation and development of a communicative competence in another language. The study is topical due to the need to study the pragmatic potential of discursive markers, their classification, to identify their prototypical and non-prototypical functions, to analyze the contexts in which these linguistic units function. The study was carried out on corpora. The object of research is the potential of discursive markers in the pragmatic linguo-didactic aspect. The subject of analysis includes the functional features of grammatical discursive markers of the English language. The analysis of discursive markers functioning resulted in the identification of pragmatic idioms (Could you ...?), modal verbs as units of speech etiquette and as syncretic discursive markers (Can...open the door?), infinitive constructions (to begin with), adverbs of certainty (definitely), and disjunctive questions (They're not actually losing much by giving to us , are they?).
